Life Coaching

You may be asking, “What is Life Coaching?”  As you are probably well aware, the issues that face a pastor are becoming increasingly more difficult.  Pastors are stepping out of ministry roles at an alarming rate. Not sure where to turn, pastors most frequently don’t turn anywhere... they just “hold in” the issues... suppressing the pain... fearing the exposure, bite their lip and continue until it becomes simply unbearable for them and their spouses.

Life Coaching is a process whereby the pastor can have his own personal counselor and coach.  Dr. Bob Nichols has more than 30 years in ministry with a Doctorates in both Theology and Psychology.  With more than 22,000 hours of counseling, he is able to help you process even the most difficult heart issues within a context of confidentiality and trust.

Individual Pastors will be contracted on case-by-case basis.  A typical arrangement is as follows:

1. Proposal Inquirya meeting with the pastor to hear his desires and availability.  This trip will also require a meeting with three or four of his closest church leaders that will form an “inner circle” for accountability. Frequently, this “inner circle” is a couple of close friends that are not on the church staff.

2. Monthly Time Commitment – the usual commitment is for six (6) to twelve (12) months.  Each month will involve two days of meetings that include the following:

· One hour meeting with the “Inner Circle” – this is an opening meeting to bring Dr. Nichols up to speed on the present issues

· Two hour meeting with pastor – heart issues

· Two hour meeting with pastor – leadership skill sets

· Two hour meeting with pastor – local church strategies / personal time for pastor

· One hour meeting with pastor & “Inner Circle” – this is a summary meeting to game-plan that months projects and activities

3. Quarterly Assessments – after each three month period, Dr. Nichols will assess the progress with the pastor and his inner circle.  This assessment is a two hour procedure that evaluates the growth areas and skill-set development.

Besides these meetings, there will be a required reading list.  These books will be part of the discussion between the pastor and Dr. Nichols. There will also be various articles passed between Dr. Nichols and the pastor.  These articles will also be provided for the “Inner Circle.” (the reading list will also be provided for the inner circle)

These times, although they have an order and uniform direction, will be designed for the individual pastor and his particular needs.

During the weeks between each monthly meeting, there will be phone calls and emails for encouragement and update.

With these thoughts in mind, you are invited to call or email your questions to Dr. Nichols, or take the next step and ask for a “Proposal Inquiry.”
